The VILLAGE Way
Step-By-Step Guide
- To see if VHH services are right for you, schedule a free 30-minute clarity call. On this call, you will get a chance to ask any questions that you may have that are not answered on this website.
- After the free clarity call, you can then decide whether or not you would like to schedule your first visit with Dr. Clark.
- The first intake appointment is 90 minutes long. You will fill out some questionnaires prior to your initial visit and also upload any pertinent medical records to your patient portal prior to your initial visit for Dr. Clark to review.
- All visits are virtual at this time via the Zoom platform which is HIPPA compliant.
- During your initial 90-minute visit, you and Dr. Clark will review your history, discuss your current concerns, and come up with the best plan moving forward for you.
- After your initial visit, you will decide what appointment package you would like to purchase.
- For any diet and lifestyle changes, you will have the opportunity to schedule calls with an accountability coach to check in weekly for the first four weeks, and then twice monthly thereafter.
- If labs are ordered, the orders and/or kits will be shipped to your home. If your labs contain orders for bloodwork, you can get your labs drawn with your order form at your local LabCorp or Quest.
- During your care, you can reach out to Dr. Clark via your patient portal with non-urgent questions regarding your care, and she will respond back within 48 business hours.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine is a root cause, systems-based approach to healing. It involves getting a very detailed health history, often diving deeper with detailed labs, taking into account every aspect of your health, and putting all of the puzzle pieces together to figure out what body systems are out of balance, to then plan the best way to restore that balance. Treatment plans almost always include diet and lifestyle changes that are sustainable for the rest of your life, often supplements for vitamins and minerals you are found to be deficient in, and any added treatments such as biologics or prescription medications. Every single person has a unique story and health history, genetic make-up, environmental toxin exposure level, and lifestyle – therefore, every single person’s path towards healing will look different.
What is Integrative Medicine?
Licensed healthcare providers who methodically incorporate both conventional and complementary treatment strategies are referred to as providing integrative care. Conventional or Allopathic medicine, also known as “mainstream” or “Western medicine,” is the main type of medicine taught at U.S. medical schools and practiced by the majority of doctors and healthcare professionals in this country. Complementary therapies include a broad range of healing philosophies, approaches, and therapeutic modalities that the allopathic/conventional medicine world does not as commonly study, accept, use, or make available. Different types of complementary therapies are mind-body medicine (i.e. meditation, breathwork, expressive therapies), biologically-based therapies (i.e. botanicals, animal-derived extracts, vitamins, minerals, whole diet, functional foods), manipulative and body-based methods (i.e. osteopathic manipulation, chiropractic, massage, reflexology), energy therapies (i.e. Reiki, healing touch, therapeutic touch), and whole/alternative medical systems (i.e. Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, classical homeopathy and indigenous healing systems). Integrative medicine highlights the significance of the relationship between healthcare provider and patient, prioritizes holistic care, is guided by evidence, and utilizes a variety of therapeutic methods, healthcare experts, and disciplines to attain optimal well-being.
